Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Sunapee NH now Heating their Middle High School with Sustainable Biomass Wood Heat
100% of the Sunapee School District was heated with oil until a few years ago. In the middle high school, they relied on steam boilers from 1968—the boilers were used when they were installed and were even older than the building. The elementary school and gym had oil steam heat.
Using low-interest municipal lease performance contracts, the district was first able to convert the elementary school and gymnasium in 2022. After the success of that project, the district voted to move the HS to renewable wood heat.
EEI, Froling Energy, and Sunapee School District marked the startup of the new biomass system on November 8th with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Sunapee community members, local politicians, and New Hampshire energy champions.
